I think we need an answer on the thread, especially since this seems to be a major issue. 

QUICKBOOKS...The simple fix, it seems, is correcting the drop down under Contractors filing as a business. EIN should not be the only option. There should be a choice between SSN (for sole proprietors not using an EIN) and EIN for others. 

The only other from what I could figure out playing around with the pages is to log those business contractors using a SSN instead of EIN as vendors. It allows them to be tracked for 1099 as well as use their SSN.
