If so, please know that the Print preview page will pop up from the same page and it's working just as how it's designed. Also, I've replicated your scenario here on my end and I was able to close the page by just hitting the close button (x) instead of the browser's back button.

On the other hand, you also have the option to print and download your invoices from the Sales menu which you'll be routed to a new window. I'd be glad to show you how:

1. Go to the Sales menu then select Invoices.
2. Locate the invoice you want to print or download then hit on the dropdown button. 
3. Select Print and you'll be routed to a new window where you can download or print the chosen invoice.
