Buy nowI was having the same problem with 2 company files in Desktop Pro Plus 2022. I would open them, supply the password, it would bring up the interface and then 30 seconds later crash.
I was able to do steps recommended in this thread and posted below by first creating a new test company. I gave it just enough information for me to open that company with no issue and immediately went into the edit -> preferences menu and make the changes. I closed that company, opened my existing and it stayed up long enough for me to adjust the preferences on my real companies. Now all is good.
