Ahhh! Yes, there are three 'modes' you can be in:

- Multi-window 'restored'

- Multi-window 'maximized'

- Single-window.

It's the middle mode that's an issue, it seems. I suspect a coding error, where not only is the window size and position (correctly) not saved, but the custom column widths are also not saved, which IMO is a coding/logic error.
