Adding a Canadian client to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account from Hong Kong requires some steps to ensure you're setting them up correctly, dl8908142.
To achieve this, we'll need to work with two different currencies (Hong Kong Dollar and Canadian Dollar). The Multi-currency feature allows you to handle transactions in multiple currencies and converts them to your home currency for reporting purposes. If it is not yet enabled, please follow the steps in this article to turn it on: Set up and use Multicurrency in QuickBooks Online.
Now that you've enabled the feature, add the Canadian dollar to your list of currencies. Here’s how:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Currencies.
- Select Add currency.
- Choose Canadian Dollar (CAD) from the Add Currency dropdown.
- Press Add.
Once done, add your new client and assign the Canadian dollar to their profile by following the steps below:
- Go to Customers & leads and select Customers.
- Select New customer.
- In the Customer information window, fill out the required information.
- Choose Payment and billing. In This customer pays me with field, select the customer's currency (Canadian Dollar (CAD). This is the currency that the customer uses to pay you for products or services.
- Fill in the rest of their details and press Save.
Once you've completed these steps, create invoices and other sales transactions for this client in CAD. The program will automatically calculate the exchange rate for you, but you can also manually update it if you need to.
