You'll want to upgrade to QuickBooks Online Plus to be able to use the Projects feature. You can also activate the Billable Expense feature in QBO Plus, which is another way of recording the payments that you made on behalf of the customer.
Here's how:
- Go to the Gear or Settings ⚙ and click Account and settings.
- Proceed to the Billing & Subscription tab.
- Make sure that your payment info is up-to-date.
- Go to the QuickBooks Online section, then select Upgrade your plan.
- Review the available plans and then select Choose plan.
- Follow the on-screen steps to upgrade your plan.
