Thanks for joining in on this discussion, @seskauk. I can help you fix MTD issues and errors in QuickBooks Online (QBO) so you can get back to filing VAT returns. 

 

Keeping your VAT accounting period updated will help ensure that all returns are accurately filed and submitted on time. This error may occur if you have a pending or unsuccessful VAT return submission (this will have an amber or red icon next to it).

 

Please follow these steps on how to fix it:

 

  1. Go to Taxes.
  2. Select Go for it next to the return.
  3. Follow the instructions. Do not select Resubmit return for a rejected VAT filing. QBO will resubmit the same way as the original filing.

Furthermore, the error message you received indicates that you'll need to register for MTD and wait for email confirmation of your registration from HMRC before connecting to QBO.
