You can download your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to your computer without needing to pay for it again, Rick.

First, could you please let me know which version of QBDT you are using?

If you're using QBDT 2018 or a newer version as a single user, you can utilize the Migrator Tool to transfer it along with up to three company files to your new computer.

If you're using QBDT 2017 or an older version, you can still transfer your company file to your new computer. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Install QuickBooks Desktop on your new computer.
  2. Create a backup company file on the original computer and save it with a unique name to avoid overwrites. Store it somewhere accessible, like the Windows desktop.
  3. Transfer the backup file to the new computer using a flash drive, external device, or network sharing.
  4. Restore the backup on the new computer using its unique file name.
  5. If using payroll, download the latest tax table after transferring your file.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.
