Thank you for reaching out to the QuickBooks Community! If you are wanting to add an account to the Chart of Accounts, here's how to do it in QuickBooks Online:

 

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Select New. Depending on your account view, you'll see a panel labeled New account or New category.

 

Add the necessary information and save. I am adding this link, which includes a video presentation and additional steps when choosing a New Account or New Category. However, if you are using a QuickBooks Desktop account, follow these steps below:

 

  1. Go to the Lists menu, then select Chart of Accounts.
  2. From the Account ▼dropdown, select New.
  3. Select an account type, then choose Continue.
  4. Complete the account details.
  5. Select Save & Close.
