You don't have to use the Print as PDF through QBDT.  If you haven't resolved this issue yet, try this.  Click on Print>Report (as if you were going to print the report). When the Print reports windows opens click on the dropdown arrow where your printer is listed (Print to: name of printer)  choose "Microsoft Print to PDF on Portprompt" (or similar verbiage) as an option.  This will save your pdf without having the "component" aspect setup within QBDT.
