• If you bought QuickBooks Desktop from our website: Look in the purchase confirmation email you received from us.
• If you bought QuickBooks from a retail store: Look for the brightly colored sticker on the original CD envelope.

If the numbers are correct and the same thing happens, we can download the QuickBooks Tools Hub and run QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool. This help fix and close any open background processes that QuickBooks uses. Sometimes the background processes cause QuickBooks to not accept a product number.

Here’s how:

1. Download the most recent version (1.4.0.0) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
2. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it.
3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
5. Double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.

Once done, please proceed to these steps below:

1. From the Tool Hub, then select Installation Issues.
2. Select QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool. It can take up to 20 minutes.
3. When the tool finishes, restart your computer.
