The rant: I don't think Intuit is very interested in fixing this. At this point there are several newer versions, and while I agree that this seems like a simple fix and should have been addressed years ago, clearly that isn't happening. I suppose they'd much rather sell you a newer version...

 

The solution(ish): After wrestling with this for a few hours, I finally decided to just set the scheduled task to run during business hours, and selected "Run only when user is logged on", and "Configure for: Windows 10"... This seems to work. It will show the backup progress under existing windows, but doesn't interrupt anything that I can tell, including whatever you happen to be doing in QuickBooks at the time of the backup. And it sure beats hoping that someone will remember to back up manually.
