I can help you with that, drkirkmiller-gma.

Keep in mind that you can only move a company file within 60 days after signing up to QuickBooks Online. If you already set up payroll in QBO, you'll need to move your lists instead of your company file. Additionally, some of your data won't be converted due to feature differences.

To get started, make sure that you're using the latest release of QuickBooks Desktop. You'll also want to verify that your desktop file is less than 350,000 targets. When you're ready. here's how to move your data:

  1. Sign in as an admin to the company file you need to import.
  2. Go to the Company menu, then choose Export Company File to QuickBooks Online.
  3. Select Start your export.
  4. Sign in as an admin to your QuickBooks Online company.
  5. If you track inventory in QuickBooks Desktop, select Yes to bring them over, then specify the as of date.
  6. Select the Choose online company drop-down menu, and choose the QuickBooks Online company you want to be replaced by your company file.
  7. Hit Continue, then enter “Agree” in the text field.
  8. Click Replace, then choose Yes, go ahead and replace the data.
  9. Select Replace again to complete the process.

After that, pull up and your financial reports on both platforms to ensure that your data was accurately transferred.

Lastly, I encourage checking our Getting Started Guide to help set up your new QuickBooks company.
