Happy new year, userplanetyvette.

I'll share some details and steps regarding your concern.

When you import the Chart of Accounts from a spreadsheet in Excel or CSV format, QuickBooks Online will not request for you to enter your opening balance. This is to make sure that you enter the real-life bank account balance for the day you pick.

After the import, you can manually edit each account and enter the amount by following these steps:

  1. Go to Accounting > Chart of Accounts.
  2. Find the imported account and click the drop-down arrow next to the View register link.
  3. Select Edit.
  4. In the Account window, enter the amount in the Balance field and add the as of date.
  5. Hit Save once done.

I've got a sample screenshot for a visual reference:

You can follow the same process for the other imported accounts.

I'm also adding this article for more details: Move your chart of accounts to QuickBooks Online. If you need help managing your QuickBooks Online account, you can browse our other articles here.
