When you bought QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) from a retail store or third-party seller, they are the ones who will give you the activation code so you can start using the product. 

If in case the activation code doesn't work, I suggest buying a new QBDT program through the phone. Once done, download and install it. When finished, you'll have to contact our phone support team for the activation code. You can also ask them about the legalities of using the product.
