RRSP Overcontribution during 1st 60 days of the year

I have understood that if taxpayer overcontributed in the first 60 days of the year (February, 2022 contribution was made), he will not pay penalties, since overcontributed amount will go toward 2022 RRSP room limit. Is this right?
