Before we can export any hours from QuickBooks Time to Online, use the Payroll Item Mapping Tool to assign items to your hours. Before doing so, we'll have to set an employee default first if we want to assign payroll items according to specific clients, services, or classes.
Here's how:
- After mapping payroll items by employee, in QuickBooks Time, select the QuickBooks drop-down arrow, then Preferences.
- Click the Payroll Item Mapping Tool.
- Select Settings.
- Click the Allow overrides by: box, and select Customer, Service Item, or Class.
- Hit Save.
- On the Map Customers, Map Service Items, or Map Classes tab, select + Add Override.
- Choose a customer, service item, or class (whichever displays), then expand the new override option.
- Under each hour type column, select a payroll item.
- Repeat until each Customer, Service Item, or Class mapped appropriately.
- Additions and changes are saved automatically. Close the window when the mapping is complete.
