As is usual with QuickBooks, the change from PIN to Intuit account verification for direct deposit is not in itself a problem or without merit, rather it is the rollout of the change(s) and the complete lack of information available that is problematic.

I would suspect fraud, or more specifically, the prevention of fraud is the most likely reason for the change from PIN to phone code.  This is entirely understandable and should reduce fraudulent transactions.  However, not even the CSR's I have interacted with have any idea of this upcoming change.

To manage (add, remove, change primary principal) users authorized to pay via direct deposit (payroll, etc.), it is now necessary to use the website setup for this purpose.  The embedded "Manage Intuit User Accounts" function in the QB menus no longer appears to function for many or all users.

Navigate to https://accounts.intuit.com and login with your Intuit account login.  If you have multiple QB company files, choose the correct company.  From there you can add and remove users (admins) and change the primary principal once a user is invited and accepts the invite (email message to login email address).

However, keep in mind the list of companies is limited to 50 and multiple entries will show up for each secondary admin in a company.  This fact has cost me many hours in the implementation of a workaround <sigh>.
