Thanks for checking in with us, KRyan1.

The employee Social Security Number (SSN) will show through the return address window when printing the W-2 forms on a pre-printed form. Then, the option to truncate the SSN on a W-2 form is unavailable. QuickBooks will automatically generate the Social Security information once processed.

I'd suggest sending feedback to our product developers about this one. This is best the place for your voice to be heard and make product suggestions. To send your thoughts and ideas, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Help menu and select Send Feedback Online.
  2. Click the Product Suggestion from the dropdown menu.
  3. Fill out the on-screen instructions in the QuickBooks Feedback window.
  4. After that, click Send Feedback.

Just in case you need to display only the last digits of SSNs and bank accounts on a paycheck or pay stub, just follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Edit menu and then select Preferences.
  2. In the Payroll & Employees section, select Company Preferences.
  3. Click on Pay Stub & Voucher Printing.
  4. Uncheck the Employee social security number and then check Only the last four digits of SSNs and bank account numbers box.
  5. Press OK to save
