Let me provide the steps again with screenshots as a reference.
- Log in to your QuickBooks Online account.
- From the Payroll menu, click Employees.
- Select the employee to inactivate.
- Under the Employment column, click the pencil icon beside it.
- In the Status drop-down, select Terminated or Not On Payroll.
- Click Done to save.
