Because QuickBooks online payroll has a developer crafted bug that will silently switch your normal Direct Deposit option to a Check option when the date you've selected can't be honored by their payroll deposit service.  What they should do is just advance the date to whatever they can honor as the default, rather than defaulting to a date that can't be honored and updating everything to Check.
