Thank you for joining this thread and sharing your experience with the automatic payroll service, tompkinswindows. I understand that your service was interrupted in August due to non-payment, and after re-enrolling, certain tax forms were not generated for the early part of 2024. Let me provide some insights to help you ensure compliance with all tax obligations.

After you have returned to your payroll service, it's important to run through the payroll setup again. You'll need to review your payroll data, including employees and tax setup. Make sure all your payroll information is accurate and up to date. Here’s how:

  1. Navigate to Payroll, then click on Employees.
  2. Thoroughly review each employee’s details. Ensure their information, including deductions and W-4, as well as accrued sick and vacation time, is correct.
  3. Go to Settings and select Payroll Settings to verify and adjust your tax rates if necessary.

When the Automate taxes and forms feature is enabled in the Payroll settings, we automatically handle your federal and state payroll taxes, including year-end filings such as W-2s. However, this automation only covers tax periods for the most recent three months.

For the 2nd and 3rd quarters of 2024, you'll need to manually prepare and file the 941, GA-DOL, and GA-WH forms, as these fall outside the automation period. You can use your payroll data from QBO to fill out these forms. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu and select Payroll Tax.
  2. Click Filings and look for the payroll form.
  3. Tap Preview in the dropdown to view the data.

To view your W-2 filing still in the Payroll tax section, click on the Filter and look for a section related to annual forms. If you can't view your W2 forms, I recommend contacting our support team to investigate further.

Additionally, to verify the status of the payroll tax forms and payments you sent electronically through QuickBooks to the IRS or state agencies, refer to this article: Check the status of your payroll tax payments or filings.

Moreover, if you or your employees find errors on W-2 forms, refer to this helpful article: Fix an incorrect W-2.

I hope this information clarifies the situation and helps you ensure compliance with your tax obligations. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance as you review your payroll setup, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here to help you navigate this process smoothly.
