I understand how important it is to edit your W-2 forms within QuickBooks. I'm here to guide you through the process and explain why contacting our support team is an essential step, especially for certain types of corrections.

 

For QuickBooks Online Payroll with automated taxes and forms turned ON, corrections after filing needs to be handled by our support team who will file a W-2c form for you. If the setting is OFF and you catch the mistake before filing, you can correct the issue in the product and then proceed with filing as normal. For mistakes caught after filing, you would need to manually create and file a W-2c and W-3 form with the SSA.

 

Some errors require specific forms or steps to correct that may not be directly accessible or evident within the QuickBooks interface. In Boxes 18, 19 and 20 on Form W-2, we use the first 2 digits of the PSD code where the withholdings we're remitted. and W-2 codes are automatically added so you don't need to manually edit it.
