I'm adding further information to this thread to address your concern on how to remove a payroll update in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @RunningCPA.
I understand how the payroll update has presented some concerns for you. Please know that this isn't what we want you to experience. Currently, the process of updating your payroll is irreversible. That said, we're unable to uninstall it in QBDT.
In the meantime, I can provide some workarounds to get you back in running payroll. Please refer to the following:
- Use a different Intuit ID to log into the QBDT file prior to attempting to run payroll.
- Delete the QBW.ini from the computer running the DT software and generate payroll again.
- Perform a complete clean uninstall and reinstall of the QBDT software.

Moreover, you'll want to invite your employees to QuickBooks Workforce so they can access their W-2s and pay stubs. This way, an email notification will be sent to them once their pay stubs are available for viewing and printing.
