Hello there, @amiller74.

The reported issue regarding the Payroll Service Connection error was already closed. Since you've still got the same error, let's perform some troubleshooting steps to get this resolved.

There are several reasons that caused this error. Below are the lists of them:

  • Invalid security certificate.
  • Sending payroll data in multi-user mode.
  • A network time-out prevents QuickBooks Desktop from accessing the server.
  • General internet connection issues.
  • Internet security and personal firewall software settings.
  • Incorrect system date and time properties.

To sort it out, you can first download and install the latest tax table. Then, process payroll again to verify if it's working. If you get the same result,  check your system time and date settings. If your system date and time are wrong, update them. If it still doesn't work, reboot your computer.

If the issue persists after all the troubleshooting steps, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. This way, they can investigate this issue further and provide in-depth troubleshooting steps to get this fixed. They can also re-open the investigation ticket if other users are experiencing the same.
