QuickBooks multi-factor authentication is only required when you log in to your account and not when updating the bank. That said, I'd recommend that you contact your financial institution in this regard. They have a way of disabling the bank verification functionality.
For now, I'd suggest doing some basic troubleshooting steps to help fix the lag. To start, please log in to your account through incognito to verify if it's a browser-related issue.

From there, re-update and re-run your categorize transaction list to confirm if it's already functioning well. If it works, return to your regular browser and press the CTRL+ Shift and Delete keys on your keyboard to clear the cache.
