Why QB moderators or employees on here are not giving this information to us is beyond me.  So since April 2018 I have this issue - but no help from QB's and this info was not on there before bc I couldn't find it.   I fixed it and the answer is now in Quickbooks help on the desktop.

** I added a new bank name in Chart of Accounts.  Downloaded the bank feed to this account (that I haven't been able to download since April).  Then I renamed the old account the same as the new account - so it would merge.  MERGE. Then I renamed it again to be the original name that it has been for years.  Just remember you can not have any names similar to the original bank name in your chart of accounts it won't merge then.  If you want to find this info yourself - open bank feeds - then open help.  Attached it the instructions from quickbooks if the links do not work.  You can find the info under :

QuickBooks Support

  1. Create a new bank account.
    1. From the Lists menu, choose Chart of Accounts.
    2. In the Chart of Accounts window, right-click anywhere and select New.
    3. Choose Bank for the Account Type.
    4. In the Account Name field, enter the name of the bank.
    5. Select Save & Close.
  2. Merge the two accounts by renaming the old account with the name of the new account.
    1. Right-click the old account, then select Edit.
    2. In the Account Name field, type the name of the new account.
    3. Select YES when you get the Merge warning dialog box.
  3. Set up the merged account for Bank Feeds.
