What is strange is even with no Update it all of a sudden showed up across the top of the page. It was almost an inch thick and maddeningly took up quit a chunk of space for no reason. I clicked HIDE icon bar and when I subsequently clicked LEFT icon bar, it added the search function back into the icon bar where it had been before.  Strange. But, at least correctable if it does it again.
