Welcome to the Community, @KathyEads.

Let me help you transfer all your data from the old version to the new one in QuickBooks Online.

In QuickBooks, indeed you can export your old data to Excel and save it to your computer. You can then import it into your new QuickBooks account to transfer your files. However, you can only move lists such as customers, vendors, and others. Let me guide you through the process.

  1. In your QuickBooks Online account, click the Gear icon and select Export data.
  2. Under the Reports tab, select the date range and choose the report you want to export.
  3. Click Export to Excel.
  4. Then, go to the Lists tab and select CustomersEmployees, and Suppliers, then click Export to Excel.

Once done, save the data to your computer and import it to your new QBO account.

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then select Import.
  2. Choose the data you want to import.
  3. Hit the Browse button and select the file you want to export.
  4. Click Next, then follow the onscreen instructions.

Another way to import your lists (vendors, customers, inventory, and chart of accounts) is by following this article in QuickBooks: Move your lists to QuickBooks Online

However, I still recommend reaching out to your accountant to have hands-on support from technical and accounting perspectives.

Moreover, here are some references to help you achieve your other tasks, they contain answers to frequently asked questions. You can also browse a topic on our Community page if you encounter unfamiliar topics:

I'm only a comment away if you have any questions about transferring your data, financial transactions in QuickBooks Online, @KathyEads. I'll be glad to lend a hand. Take care and enjoy your weekend!
