I'm here to provide clarifications about what happens when your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) expires, bdalley.

The level of access you'll have to your files without renewing your subscription depends on the specific version of QBDT you're using. Different editions and years of QBDT have varying policies regarding file access after subscription expiration.

If you purchased QBDT  2021 or earlier with a one-time license, you'll always have access to your company file without needing to renew. These versions use a traditional model where you own the software outright. However, be aware that you won't get any security updates as these versions are no longer supported.

For QBDT 2022 users, you'll need to keep your subscription active to access your company file.

As for QBDT 2023, you can view your company file in read-only mode for 365 days after your subscription ends, but you won't be able to make any changes during this period.

We're here to assist you with any additional questions or concerns about managing your subscription. Feel free to reply to this thread, and we'll respond promptly with the help you need.
