Since you're not able to download a copy of our QuickBooks trial install file, I'd recommend checking if you have enough free space on your computer. Detailed steps for doing so can be found on Microsoft's website. In the event you don't have enough space, you'll need to free some up to be able to successfully download your trial install file.
If you're seeing any messages indicating why the trial file can't be downloaded, please let me know what they're telling you.
Once you've downloaded your trial install file, you can run it to begin its installation process. Once it's installed, since you're working with a version older than 2018, you'll need to use our QuickBooks Desktop file restoration tool to upgrade your file.
Here's how:
Once your file is uploaded, Intuit will auto-update it to the latest version of QuickBooks Desktop and you'll see an option to move it to QuickBooks Online. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish moving your data to QuickBooks Online.
If your books fail to update to QuickBooks Desktop or move to QuickBooks Online, I'd recommend getting in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull the account up in a secure environment and conduct further research with you.
I've also a detailed resource about moving QuickBooks Desktop files to QuickBooks Online which may come in handy moving forward: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online
I'll be here to help if there's any questions. Have a great Monday!
