I understand how you feel and know how important it is for you to maintain the same QuickBooks choice as before. Currently, there isn't a way to get the one-time license since the new QuickBooks Desktop is already under an annual subscription.
Once your payroll subscription expires, you can still renew it. However, your QuickBooks Desktop 2020 will discontinued on May 31, 2023. Access to all add-on services, including payroll, will end.
