Good morning, @dp221

Thanks for trying the suggested steps by my colleague above. I'm happy to lend you a hand with logging your admin user off.

In QuickBooks Desktop, when we see a message stating the Admin is already logged in, it could mean various things. Such as:

  • The accountant or user logging into the company file was using Remote Access and didn't log out from a previous session.
  • The user is already logged into the company file from a different workstation.
  • An electrical problem caused an issue in the network.

Here are some steps you can take to log the user off:

First, you can run the Quick fix my program tool located in the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Here's how:

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the most recent version (1.5.0.0) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it (like your Downloads folder or your Windows desktop). Note: If you've installed Tool Hub before, you can find out which version you have. Select the Home tab. The version will be on the bottom.
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. In the QuickBooks Tool Hub, choose Program Problems.
  5. Click on Quick Fix my Program.
  6. Open QuickBooks Desktop and log in to the company file.

If you still have issues logging in, rest the Admin password by hitting Forgot my password

Should you run into further issues attempting to reset the password, I recommend contacting our Technical Support Team. This way, an agent can review your account in a secure environment and help reset the password.

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Have a good one!
