Fiat Lux - ASIA is correct about what you need to upgrade your files. Let me share some information with you. Upgrading an out-of-date file must be done in stages. This is because desktop versions of QuickBooks have a three-year timeline before being discontinued. This means that no longer-supported versions will no longer receive security or critical updates. Note that each version has its own set of system requirements for the program to function properly.
There is a significant distance between 2008 and 2021. After downloading a new company file, you cannot immediately restore an existing one. Your outdated version lacks updates and components, thus it is incompatible with the most recent version. You must upgrade the 2008 file to 2011, then 2018 to 2021, and restore the file in between.
That being said, I'd suggest contacting our support they'll be able to use a screen-sharing tool that can better assist you in updating your QuickBooks Desktop version.
