I want to make sure you're able to make necessary changes to your reports in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
You'll want to review your login permission as there are different levels of access when logging in to an account in QBO. Before doing so, make sure you are the admin of the account. If not, you'll need to ask the admin to update your user permission.

If the setup is correct and you're still unable to edit the reports, let's do the following steps to fix this. This behavior is likely caused by a cache-related problem. In this case, you can rule this out by using an incognito or private browser:
Next, log in to your QuickBooks Online account and try assigning an expense to the customer/job again. When you're able to do so, you'll want to go back to the regular browser and clear the cache. Close any instances of your browser to complete the process. Another thing you can do is to use other supported browsers.
