When converting a QuickBooks for Windows company file to QuickBooks for Mac, the only passwords that are converted to QuickBooks for Mac are your admin password and user passwords.

If you're being prompted to enter a password when opening the company file in QuickBooks for Mac after the conversion, it should be the admin password you're working with. In the event your administrator of the company is unaware of what their admin password is, they can reset it.

Here's how:

  1. From your Password field, click the lock icon. You'll see a pop-up menu listing recovery email addresses.
  2. Choose an email you have access to.
  3. Select OK.
  4. You'll receive an email from QuickBooks with instructions to guide you through creating a new admin password.

I've also included a detailed resource about working with passwords which may come in handy moving forward: Reset your password for QuickBooks

I'll be here to help if there's any additional questions. Have a wonderful Friday!
