Bill date is the invoice date on the invoice, which would reflect the correct payment terms etc. Posting date is the date that the company wants to post because the costs should be recorded in the correct month (when the services are incurred). The biggest challenge is at yearend - the invoices have to be posted in the correct fiscal year but if the bill date is the month after, they cannot be posted correctly.
