I've looked into this further, and in QuickBooks Desktop, you can pull up a Budget vs. Actual report. Then, customize it to show the current and previous years for comparison.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. In your QuickBooks Desktop file, proceed to the Reports menu.
  2. Select Budgets & Forecasts and click the Budget vs. Actual report.
  3. Choose the account and click Next.
  4. Select the report layout and choose Next.
  5. Click Finish
  6. Select the Customize button, and under Display Columns by, select Year.
  7. Lastly, click OK.
