Transactions

Hello, @Flipper76.

I recognise the importance of making the car and van expenses as allowable. Let me help you further about this matter in QuickBooks Self-employed (QBSE).

QBSE automatically sets the expense method to "Simplified expenses," which uses a fixed rate per mile driven. If you choose not to use this method and prefer to track your vehicle expenses separately, you need to categorise those expenses under "Travel Expenses." By doing this, QuickBooks will recognize those expenses as allowable deductions for your taxes.

Here's how:

  1. Log in to your account.
  2. Navigate to the Transactions tab where you see your expenses.
  3. Find and select the individual vehicle-related expenses you want to categorize.
  4. Click on the category dropdown menu for each expense and select Travel Expenses.
  5. Then click Save.
