Taxes

With QuickBooks Online, you can file taxes directly within the platform without signing into TurboTax, Dr3Bob. I'll share insights for this.

To file your taxes directly inside QuickBooks Online, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online.
  2. Go to Taxes, then Year-end filing.
  3. If your business type isn't saved in the QuickBooks settings, we'll ask for it next. Select Continue. Select your business entity and then Save.
  4. Select Start for free. Note: You’ll need to pay when you e-file.

For more information, please refer to this article which provides detailed steps to file your taxes: QuickBooks Live Tax in QuickBooks Online.

Then, if you want to proceed to download the QuickBooks Desktop trial version on another PC, you can follow the suggestion from Chrea. Then perform the same steps you did before.

Once you're successfully importing the data into QBDT, proceed to export and transfer it to TurboTax. Then, follow the provided steps to file your taxes:

  1. Ensure you've assigned tax lines to your accounts in QuickBooks.
  2. Open your QuickBooks data file, then open your return in TurboTax.
  3. In TurboTax, select File, then Import, then From Accounting Software.
  4. Choose QuickBooks and select Continue.
  5. We’ll walk you through the rest of the import process.
  6. After importing, review your data.

When working with QBDT and TurboTax Desktop, please note that some expenses can't be imported from QuickBooks to TurboTax.
