QuickBooks Time
Thanks for reaching out to the Community, LeahC.
GPS is pulled rom a combination of satellites, Wi-Fi, and cellular data. There's many factors that can't be controlled, such as a device's technical capabilities, weather patterns, atmosphere, etc. This can make it difficult for some GPS points to be pulled, or to find out why a certain point may not be pulling correctly.
Before troubleshooting GPS tracking issues, you'll want to confirm you're set up correctly and using the newest version of our QuickBooks Workforce app.
If locations are still incorrect or missing after confirming you're set up properly, there's a number of things which can cause this:
- The device is overheated or damaged.
- The device is off or its battery died.
- You’re clocked in through a computer or kiosk.
- You’re in a location with satellite interference.
- The app or the device operating system is out of date.
- You’re signed out of the app, not on the clock, or on break.
- The device is in power saving mode, airplane mode, or a low battery setting.
- Restrict background data is on (Android) or background app refresh is off (iOS).
- The app was force closed (while a team member is clocked in, the app must be running in the background).
- A timesheet was manually created (or edited) by your admin or manager. To find out if this happened, you can sign in with a web browser and go to Time Entries. Find your timesheet and view its Timesheet log. In the event your timesheet was created by someone else or edited, GPS points won't show.
Here's how to troubleshoot iOS devices:
- Turn the device off, then back on.
- Go to Settings, Privacy & Security, then Location Services.
• Make sure Location Services is turned on.
• Turn it off and back on, then find and select Workforce.
• Set Allow Location Aaccess to Always.
• Turn on Precise Location. - To reset all wireless radios, go to Settings.
• Turn on Airplane Mode, then turn it off. - To turn off battery saver settings or apps, go to Settings, then Battery.
• Confirm Low Power Mode is turned off.
• If you have battery saver apps, make sure their permissions are set to not include your Workforce app.
Here's how to troubleshoot Android devices:
- Turn the device off, then back on.
- Go to Settings, Apps, QuickBooks Workforce, then Permissions.
• Tap Location.
• Turn on Allow all the time.
• Select Use precise location. - Turn off any battery saver settings for your Workforce app or other battery saving apps you have.
You can also report a problem if you've already tried all of these troubleshooting processes, but are still encountering issues with GPS tracking. After sending device logs to Intuit, you can get in touch with our Customer Care team and discuss the logs with support to investigate further. You'll also want to contact them if you're looking to discuss a refund for your account.
