Payments
I appreciate you dropping by this thread, @Ivelise.
I'm here to share information on how to delete transactions in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Deleting the payment linked to the transaction first can let you have the option to remove the specific entry on your Chart of Accounts. Let me assist you with deleting a deposit in QBDT.
The Delete Deposit option will only show on the Edit toolbar if you select the deposit within the register. If there are multiple payments in one deposit, you can open the transaction and use the Delete Line option instead.
Here's how:
1. On your QBDT file, click on the Lists at the top menu bar.
2. Select Chart of Accounts.
3. Locate and double-click the account.
4. Locate and double-click the specific deposit.
5. If you want to delete a specific payment, select it from the list.
6. Then click the Edit tab at the top menu bar.
7. Select Delete Line.
8. If you want to delete the entire deposit, you can select Delete Deposit.
Kindly see the screenshots below for visual reference:
Take in mind that the Delete Line option will only show if there are multiple payments on a deposit transaction.
Moreover, you may also want to run a Deposit Detail report to easily track transactions in QBDT. Here's how:
1. On the Reports menu, select Report Center.
2. Go to the Banking section and locate the Deposit Detail.
3. Then click the Run icon.
Additionally, I'll also share this article that can serve as your reference if you want to learn how to batch delete or void transactions in QBDT: Batch delete or void transactions in QuickBooks Desktop Accountant Edition.
