Payments
As I am now waiting in the Melio Chat queue #10 in line - super!) to find out what happened to two checks that have not been received by a vendor, this is what I have learned about Online Bill Pay using Melio on QB Desktop 2022:
1. It is not possible to login to melio.com as there is a syncing problem with QuickBooks. Perhaps this explains why I never received a requested link to reset my password.
2. To access a chat function, since logging onto melio.com isn't an option, I need to do this through QuickBooks' Schedule Online Payment window, a quirky 'backdoor hack.'
3. There is currently no dashboard available for QuickBooks users, though this is hopefully to be developed in the unspecified future.
4. There is currently no way to actually track whether checks issued by Melio have been cleared. To do this, I need to contact Melio directly so that Melio staff can look into this and confirm that the checks were not cleared. Then they will either send another payment or refund the amount of any check(s) sent on my behalf. I had five checks in the first month using Melio that were not cashed by vendors. I now have two more.
5. There is currently no way for Melio to apply credits that QuickBooks users have entered. This results in the dreaded 'no partial payments allowed' message, requiring users to manually calculate and then reduce the original invoice by the credit amount - and then remove the credit(s) from QuickBooks. Doing this also removes the vapor trail that would allow us to track these within QB.
Unless QB/Intuit wanted to discourage its users from paying bills through its software, the decision to use Melio as a TPA for this purpose is, in my opinion, a COLOSSAL error in judgement. But don't just take my word for it, read others' comments in the thread.
