I appreciate your time joining in on this thread, Sparky704.
I'll give some details why you're getting a different file name.
A .DAT extension is a commonly used file for saving generic data records. The information contained within a . DAT file depends on the program used to create it.
It might be possible that the scanner being used is creating the .dat file(s). You'll want to review the scanner's setup/configuration utility to turn it off or reach out to their support.
If there are no issues on the configuration, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care Team. They can check your Scan Manager setup and investigate what's causing the file extension to save as .DAT.
Here's how:
- In your QuickBooks Desktop program, go to Help > QuickBooks Desktop Help.
- In the Have a Question window, click the Contact Us link at the bottom.
- From the Contact Us page, select any topics.
- Under Here's how to connect with a QuickBooks expert section, click the Start a Message or Get Phone Number button.
To learn more about the Scan Manager feature, you can check out this article: QuickBooks Scan Manager: Scan and attach documents to transactions.
Please feel free to visit us again if you have more questions or need help with other concerns. I'll be around to help. Take care and stay safe.
