Payroll and STP
Let’s tackle this together, Dan. I understand you’re dealing with pending leave requests for closed pay periods.
In QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll, once a pay period is posted and finalized, the system locks certain elements to maintain payroll accuracy and ensure compliance with regulations. As a result, leave requests associated with closed pay periods cannot be directly approved, modified, or deleted.
To address any discrepancies related to leave hours or pay from those periods, you can create an adjusting payroll transaction in the current or next open pay period. This adjustment will help offset or correct the leave hours or pay.
Please keep a clear record of any manual adjustments you make for audit purposes and future reference. I recommend notifying your employees about these changes so they are fully aware of any updates affecting their payroll.
