There is no law. I asked a intuit employee to refer me to the "law". I had to ask twice "what law", they referred me to their page of "legal" jargon. There is no law referenced it is just their lawyers legal jargon. The link they gave me mentions that intuit uses this data to track you. I told this to the intuit staff person that it states so on their website.
The person I chatted with said they could stop this message coming up by verifying my account / license. Once my account was verified they told me I needed to reset my updates.
Which I needed to do for every QB file I have. I do not know if this will work if you have not verified your license with intuit staff but this is the process for resetting your updates
Go to help
Click on the Update Now tab
Click on the reset Update box.
Then get updates

So far I have not been asked to login in but it has only been a bit over a week. If this works I will make a clean post with the instructions. You may have to login to the intuit account first to verify or work with one of the intuit staff as I did.
Surely, you'd like intuit would make it know that there is a fix for this annoying feature, but perhaps they cannot track up if we do? Or are they just to big and something fell through the cracks. I do not know.
