Thanks for chiming in on this thread, TS1102.

I'll help you get the program working again.

Here are a few possible reasons why you're unable to open QuickBooks:

  • Your company name may be too long
  • You may have a damaged or missing QBWUSER.INI file
  • You may have corruption on your hard drive
  • Your program files or QuickBooks Desktop installation may be damaged
  • You may have a damaged Windows operating system

For resolving the issue, let's run Quick Fix my Program from the QuickBooks Tools Hub. This helps resolve common errors. We also recommend using Tool Hub on Windows 10, 64-bit for better experience.

Then, follow these steps to download:

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the most recent version (1.5.0.0) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it (like your Downloads folder or your Windows desktop). Note: If you've installed Tool Hub before, you can find out which version you have. Select the Home tab. The version will be on the bottom.
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. When the install finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.

From the Tools Hub, run the Quick Fix my Program. This will shut down any open background processes QuickBooks uses. Then, it will run a quick repair on your program.

Here's how:

  1. In the QuickBooks Tools Hub, select Program Problems.
  2. Click Quick Fix my Program.
  3. Start QuickBooks Desktop and open your data file.

Once done, try to open your QuickBooks Desktop. If you're still getting the same result, you can follow Solution 2, 3, 4, and 5 in this article: QuickBooks Desktop doesn't start or won't open.

Please keep me posted on how it goes. I'll be around to help you out again. Take care!
