I've come to share details about migrating your company files from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Premier to QuickBooks Online (QBO), @CashFlowDoctor. This way, you can manage your data accordingly.
You're able to migrate your QBDT file to QBO regardless if you're subscribed or utilizing the trial version of the software. You just need to make sure the QBDT Premier (trial) version you're using is still supported (i.e., 2020 or 2021) and has the program's latest release.
Before you migrate, please know what to expect when you move files from QBDT to QBO. Then, once you're ready, you can refer to the steps below:
- Sign in as an admin to the company file you need to import.
- Go to the Company menu, then select Export Company File to QuickBooks Online.
- Select Start your export.
- Sign in as an admin to your QuickBooks Online company.
- If you track inventory in QuickBooks Desktop, select Yes to bring them over or No if you want to set up new items.
- Select the Choose online company drop-down, and choose the QuickBooks Online company you want to be replaced by your company file.
- Select Continue.
- Enter “Agree” in the text field, then select Replace.
- Select Yes, go ahead and replace the data, then select Replace.
