I'm here to share additional troubleshooting steps to fix this issue right away, @adamolson.
Are you referring to the cloud hosting or cloud-based accounting program? For Desktop, you can run and store your data files on a service provider's server. On the other hand, QuickBooks Online is cloud-based and accessible through a web browser. Either way, it's less likely to run program errors since they run through the cloud.
Here are some helpful resources for more details:
- What hosting providers are authorized by Intuit?
- Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online
Meanwhile, I suggest running the QuickBooks Diagnostic Tool. It helps fix common errors or issues with Microsoft components the QuickBooks program uses.
- Close your QuickBooks.
- Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub file.
- Open the QuickBookstoolhub.exe file. It gets saved in the download folder.
- Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
- Click Finish.
- Double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.
- In the QuickBooks Tool Hub, select Program Problems.
- Select QuickBooks Program Diagnostic Tool. Let the tool run. It can take up to 20 minutes.
- When the tool finishes, restart your computer and relaunch QuickBooks.
