Does Quickbooks randomly assign new employees to post the same irrelevant information repeatedly to this thread?
We are discussing Quickbooks Desktop - software that resides on a user's computer and, excepting a few additional services like payroll or payments, shouldn't ever need to connect to the internet.
These repeated assertions this is about security or safety are nonsense. Intuit's new Privacy Statement clearly states it is using the data connection to access user data stored on local machines - data that Intuit has no business using. You are using a user account for one reason - to associate data you mine from desktop users with an account for marketing and research.
This data mining is highlighted by the addition of "business loans" where Quicken Capital integrated with Quickbooks Desktop to utilize local data to offer credit and loans to users - most who have never asked for this nor want a predatory lender snooping through their data. Perhaps Quicken Capital would like to explain to the readers of this thread how it (allegedly..cough cough) illegally partnered with Crossriver Bank to circumvent restrictions on Fintech offering PPP loans.
Stop trying to sell this repeated (and if you look at this thread) repeatedly refuted assertion Intuit is doing something for the benefit of it's customers.
Seriously Intuit - this thread is among the highest results on Google when you Google "Quickbooks Desktop". You're ignoring a growing swathe of your customers who are angry and no longer trust you.
